Racing Post Greyhound TV Tips Henlow and Hove 3rd January 2013

Henlow and Hove are the destinations for Thursday evening’s Racing Post Greyhound TV action. To watch tonight’s live dog racing, simply tune in on Sky Channel 212, or Freesat Channel 402. The show begins at 7.15pm, with the first live race going off at 7.25pm. The last event of the evening is the 10.26 from Hove. There is plenty of high class action on offer tonight, with ten open races spread over the two cards.

Very short sprint races aren’t my bag as a general rule but I think one of these runners is just too good to miss tonight. The Hove Sprint is an open race over the 285m trip where the market is dominated by two runners who met over this course and distance last week. On that occasion, Your A Champ got the better of Guinness Smokie and all things being equal, I’m struggling to see why that form should be reversed tonight. Admittedly, the six dog did beat the white jacket on the 16th of December but Your A Champ badly missed the break and comfortably beat Guinness in another contest on the 6th December. The 5/4 on offer with Ladbrokes should be taken while it lasts. This greyhound is odds on with Stan James and Hills currently.

A competitive looking event on paper, this open contest over 515m could well turn out to be the race of the night. The betting is headed by the one dog Swift Signal at a best price of 2/1 with Betfred. This greyhound has won his last two starts and although he was doing the business over a slightly longer trip last time out, he is already a proven performer over 515m. The chief danger could well come from trap five, Crayford raider Snowdon Tommy. Although he disappointed slightly in his last two starts, Tommy has an excellent trial to his credit over this course and distance and if he gets out that traps like that tonight, would be a serious threat. I’m struggling to see past the red jacket here however and the fact two shrewd firms only go 13/8, makes me think the 2s on offer with Betfred needs snapping up.
