Sunday night on Racing Post Greyhound TV can mean only one thing – Coventry. Every Sunday evening, the West Midlands City provides the entertainment for greyhound racing fans on Sky channel 212, Freesat 401. The show begins a bit earlier on Sunday’s with 6:15pm the kick off time and also finishes a little earlier than usual, at 9:30pm. There’s some cracking racing on offer tonight with eight opens and twelve races in total. Here are our best bets for tonight’s live action.

The second heat of the Hardly Ever 1975 Trophy here and the best bet of the evening for me. This 485m event is an open contest, with the betting headed by the Mark Wallis trained Planning. The six dog comes here in search of a hat-trick following two impressive victories over course and distance. Last time out here on the 2nd June, Planning clocked an excellent time of 29.26s and looks to have the measure of all these rivals as far as I’m concerned. The only worry for me is having another wide runner on his outside in Lone Reggie, who also looked very good last time out. That being said, Planning took care of Reggie in emphatic fashion two starts ago and to be quite honest, I’m surprised anyone is laying as big as 9/4. Coral only go 7/4 which is more what I’d be chalking the striped jacket up at. Definitely Nap material.

Heat three of the same competition and I won’t make any apologies for selecting another favourite who I’m very confident about. Teddy The Legend comes from the Charlie Lister kennel and I’m sure his handler won’t have been pleased with this greyhound’s performance last time out. Usually ultra consistent, Teddy never really got out the boxes and suffered from a serious amount of crowding during the race. The sole wide runner in tonight’s contest, I expect the jolly to make amends and land the odds in decent style. Snap up the 13/8 on offer with Ladbrokes as I can see the SP being more like even money.
