A cracking night of action in store this Tuesday evening on Sky Sports 2 as the cameras head to Sheffield for the Steel City Cup. Betfred make the Elaine Parker trained Candlelight King their 13/8 favourite to land the 2014 Steel City Cup crown, but the King will need to be at his very best to repeat his semi final victory over main rival Conna Trigger. Kelly Macari’s runner is a tough and genuine sort and only went down by half a length in the semi final, having been in front until the very end of the race. He may well be able to get out the traps first once again and if the favourite gets into a scrap with the other three rail runners, it might only be Viking Jack who can stop the striped jacket. At the prices, I think the five dog is the value bet in this prestigious final. This consistent sort from the Hayton kennels did not get the smoothest passage last time when beaten three quarters of a length by Underground Paul and I really fancy Viking Jack to turn that form around when it matters. The five dog can be backed at 5/1 with Betfred and those are odds I’ll be taking here tonight. It’s difficult to see either Droopys Norris or Kildare Premier being able to land a blow, unless we see some significant trouble in running.

19:34 – The opening race on the card can go to trap three, Droopys Gigi. As well as having a live chance in the big race of the night, Elaine Parker’s bitch in this event is in cracking form and looks a big price to me at odds of 10/3.
Back Trap 3 Droopys Gigi at 10/3 with Betfred
20:04 – I’m really struggling to see how the two dog United Leeds is not clear favourite here. A monster over this course and distance, take the 11/4 about the blue jacket with Betfred.
Back Trap 2 United Leeds at 11/4 with Betfred
21:04 – Although he was disappointing when last seen at Yarmouth, I think Charlie Lister’s Sidaz Jack can come right back to his best tonight. For me, Jack is juts a little bit classier than these rivals. Pay Freeze is the obvious danger but trap two should prove up to the challenge.
Back Trap 2 Sidaz Jack at 7/4 with Betfred
