Trainer Charlie Lister landed the Betfair Yarmouth Derby for an unbelievable tenth time when his runner Fear Zafonic was victorious in the £20,000 final of the Betfair East Anglian Derby over 462m at Yarmouth last night.
Coming out of Trap 3, Fear Zafonic was quick out the traps and led all the way to score at odds of 9/2 and beat 2/1f Jordansoilutions by 1 and ¾ lengths. Back in third was 3/1 chance Farloe Reason. All three dogs are trained by Charlie Lister.
After the race, Charlie Lister said;
“I’m most pleased for the dog, he was the unluckiest Derby finalist ever when he went lame, but that goes some way to making up for it.
“He had to come away like that if he was going to win, but all mine have run well.”
Lister becomes the first trainer to manage a 1-2-3 in the event since it came under rules in 1975.
