2008 Greyhound of the year Lenson Joker has been retired. He couldn’t manage to win the Champion Stakes at Romford, crashing out at the semi-final stage and was retired after failing to make a mark in an Open race at the same venue on final night live on Sky.
Tony Collett’s runner had a tremendous run last summer, winning twelve races including the Cesarewitch at Oxford, the William Hill Grand Prix at Sunderland and the Coral Champion Stakes at Romford.
The greyhound’s achievements were all the more remarkable for the fact he had to have a toe amputated early in his career.
Lenson Joker has now been transferred to the kennels of trainer Chris Cronin, where he will stand at stud.
