The semi-finals of the Ladbrokes Gold Cup get underway this afternoon from Monmore where Betfair are unable to separate Shaneboy Alley and Lemon Pluto at 7/2 joint-favourites in their sports betting market.
This year’s Pinpoint Recruitment Arc winner will be aiming for another big race success in 2013 in a fruitful campaign so far which also saw him reach the William Hill Classic final at Sunderland. He did only finish fifth in the North East but he was unfortunate to be bumped at the opening bend which ruined his chances in the race eventually won by the exciting Pinpoint Maxi.
Shaneboy Alley will run in the third semi-final of the afternoon and has been drawn out his favoured trap six, while market rival Lemon Pluto is also in the same heat from trap three.
The 480 metre competition still includes Eden Star who is available to back at 5/1 if betting online with Bet365. Barrie Draper’s dog has raced twice at Monmore and won on both of those two starts, going off at 1/2 and 4/5, respectively. His biggest disappoint so far this year was in the Greyhound Derby where he was an early casualty in round two in a heat which only featured five runners.
Sussex Cup winner Loughteen Blanco is next in the sports betting at 6/1. He was a surprise 10/1 winner of the £10,000 top prize at Hove earlier this month where he came out on top of Teejays Bluehawk and Express Master over the distance of 515m in Brighton.
Seamus Cahill’s runner got a taste of Monmore last week where he justified favouritism at 4/6 to win by over five lengths after coming out of trap two. He clocked a time of 27.94 for his run as he dropped back down in trip.
