A 460m contest, this maiden event looks very competitive on paper, with the bookmakers struggling to split the op three in the market. Classy Blaze is well fancied by Paddy Power, the Irish based firm having priced up the O’Flaherty runner at odds of 9/4, while Betfred go as big as 7/2. This bitch performed well in a trial here on 11th December and if she can reproduce that sort of effort, Classy Blaze would likely be difficult to beat. I’m going to take a chance on the four dog, Nans Top Boy who is available at a best price of 7/2 with Betfred. The Perry Barr raider is still very unexposed and has shown plenty of sings of ability during his career thus far. His effort over this course and distance back in October reads fairly well, and I can see the black jacket doing the business here this evening.

I was expecting to see Mays King at a significantly shorter price that the stand out odds of 11/4 that are available at William Hill, and he rates a decent bet for me tonight. Mays King was beaten a short head by Coolavany Gooch who reopposes here but I feel that the three dog can turn the tables with a slightly better start. Fatty Arbuckle has been in ultra consistent form over this course and distance in recent weeks, and the orange jacket is a threat going on his performance on December 14th here. That being said, I cannot let Mays King go unbacked at 11/4, and Richard Devenish’s greyhound is my bet of the night.
