The Greyhound Board of Great Britain have recently announced that PDC World Champion Gerwyn Price is now a Greyhound Ambassador. Price’s popularity around the globe can only be a positive for greyhound racing and sites such as https://www.australianonlinecasinosites.com will no doubt be taking wagers on the Welshman’s next tournament.
Commenting on the Ambassador role, Gerwyn said:
“As a lover of greyhounds and the sport and owning a few dogs myself it is a real honour to be asked to be a Greyhound Ambassador by GBGB. I hope I can encourage others out there to find out more about the sport and the thrill of greyhound ownership.”
Mark Bird, GBGB Managing Director:
“We are absolutely delighted that Gerwyn is joining us as a Greyhound Ambassador. Gerwyn has already shown himself to be a fantastic advocate for our sport and has spoken frequently in the press about how, as well as darts, greyhound racing is the other great passion in his life.
“He has been on a remarkable journey throughout his career and has excelled in not one but two professional sports. He has a considerable platform and we hope that, through this role, he can help promote our canine stars.”
Gerwyn Price is a former professional rugby league and rugby union player who made the decision to take up darts on a full time basis in 2014. The Welshman’s rise through the darts ranks has been meteoric and culminated in victory at the 2021 PDC World Championships. Even a real money casino would have given huge odds on a rugby player making a successful transition to darts, let alone becoming a world champion.
Price’s affiliation with greyhound racing is a huge shot in the arm for the sport, and it will be great to have such a positive person have hands on involvement with dog racing. It will interesting to see whether the Welshman can go on to further success in the PDC now he has secured the number one world ranking position.
