The 2012 Bettor.com Scottish Greyhound Derby is now at the semi final stage and there are a whole host of greyhound still in with a chance of winning the £25,000 first prize. The semi finals take place tomorrow night the 7th April at Shawfield Stadium, with the final being held on April 13th. The big race will be live next Friday night on Sky Sports 4. All the heats and the final of this competition are contested over a trip of 480m.
The Charlie Lister trained Boher Paddy was very impressive in the quarter finals when beating Mill Pegasus and made it two wins from two in this event in the process. He clocked a time of 29.04s which was the best of the evening and Betfred now make this greyhound their 7/4 favourite to win the competition outright. Tudor Prince has also won both his heats in the 2012 Scottish Greyhound Derby and is now second favourite at a best price of 4/1 with William Hill. This son of Westmead Hawk seems to be enjoying the trips to Scotland and will pose a serious threat to Boher Paddy.
As the draw for the semi finals has kept Boher Paddy and Tudor Prince apart, everything is set up for a possible classic encounter between these two greyhounds. While it may not be quite that straightforward, on what these dogs have achieved thus far in the competition, you would have to say they are the likely winners of their respective semi finals. As an outright bet for the 2012 Bettor.com Scottish Derby, I think it might be worth siding with Tudor Prince from a value perspective.
