Boherna Best’s Semi Final win on Tuesday night means he is now favourite to retain the William Hill All England Cup. Barrie Draper’s runner outstayed Ballymac Ruso to win in a time of 28.43sec.
Draper is keen on his dog’s chances;
“Obviously he was sick when we had to pull him out of the Irish Derby and he’s really just finding his race form now,” said Draper yesterday. “Owen [McKenna] got him to the Laurels final at Cork and he’s come back well although he is struggling to adjust to the different way of starting, particularly where the hare is when the traps open.
“In this sort of class, that’s always going to make things hard, but hopefully he’ll be a bit better in the final. Don’t rule out my other finalist, Farloe Rocket, either as he has a great draw on the rails and is really strong; he’d take advantage if anything happened to the outside runners.”
