Sports Betting Glossary

Bookmaker/ bookie
If you are new to sports betting, then the first thing that you need to know is the bookie, the bookmaker of the sportsbook. This is the person or the organisation that takes the bets and pays out the winners. Like how an online casino pays you out when you play.

Money Line Odds
The next things that you need to are the money line odds. These are the numbers that show how much each side of the bet will payout. Negative numbers that the team is the favourite while a positive number mean that they are the underdog. The underdog is the team that is most likely to lose.

Vigorish
The bookies make money by drawing a commission on bets that are called vigorish. The word comes from the Russian word vyigrysh for wins. However, if you want to seem like you been in the game for a while, you just need it to call it the juice or the vig.

Action
Action is the word for the bet that is placed with the bookie. This is what sets the adrenaline rush in motion. If we would compare it to best online casinos usa slot games, it would be the play button. While you wait to see what the results of the bet will bring.

Parlay
A parlay in sports betting is when you combine more than one bet. This will allow you bet to be carried on from one bet to another.
