Two meetings to enjoy this Sunday on Racing Post Greyhound TV with meetings from both Coventry and Henlow. There will also be a review of last night’s Derby final on the show which tonight is presented by Errol Blyth and guest Ian St Pier of Ladbrokes. The show gets underway at 6:15pm and there is a feast of open race action for punters to enjoy. Simply tune in to Sky channel 212 or Freesat channel 401 to see it all unfold. Here are our best bets for this evening.
8:00pm Henlow
This Henlow Standard open race contest takes place over a trip of 460m and there is first place prize money of £150 up for grabs. The betting is headed by the Seamus Cahill trained Droopys Reason from trap one. This greyhound ran a solid trial over course and distance last week and definitely has the best of the draw with the red jacket. Trap six also has a beneficial draw being the only wide runner in the race. Kelly Findlay’s runner has obviously had his share of problems having been off the track for some time but he looks the class act in this field and it would not surprise me if Bush Bandit ended up being very well punted tonight. You can currently get 2/1 on the striped jacket at Ladbrokes and I think that’s a price well worth taking.
Back Trap 6 Bush Bandit @ 2/1
8:30pm Henlow
Another open race event, the Henlow Mini Dup takes place over a trip of 550m and there looks to me to be one runner that is head and shoulders above the rest. The recent form of Reel Trickyone might not immediately make this greyhound jump off the page at you, but he has a couple of pieces of excellent form over this course and distance and for me, just looks a lot better than tonight’s opposition. Odds on on the tissue, William Hill go 6/4 about Mark Wallis’ runner which is good value for me. The main danger is likely to come from Droopys answer out of trap five. This greyhound is a little inconsistent but if he gets out the boxes on terms, could be a big player.
Back Trap 4 Reel Trickyone @ 6/4
