There are two great cards to get stuck into tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV, Sky Channel 231, or Freesat Channel 402. The show gets under way at 7.15pm and runs right the way through till 10.45pm. This free to air channel now shows greyhound racing three nights a week, Thursday to Saturday! Tonight’s action comes from both Romford and Sunderland. The 13 races at Romford tonight are all opens and there is some high class action at the London track. Sunderland is a graded card sponsored by William Hill, also featuring 13 races.
A greyhound that has done the business for me on a couple of Friday nights now and I’m sticking with him to make it four wins on the spin in the Tony Williams Marathon Final. I actually expected Jim Reynolds’ dog to be nearer the even money mark so the 5/2 on offer generally seems very generous. Although the time wasn’t as impressive as his previous two victories over course and distance, Mercury Freddie‘s battling qualities last time out to get the better of Mountjoy Orion impressed me greatly. I’m struggling to find dangers simply because I think this greyhound still has more to come over this trip and hasn’t really shown any frailties as yet. Definitely my Nap of the evening.
Can anything stop Aero Joker? Mark Wallis’ bitch has been nothing short of sensational in winning her last seven starts, four of which have come over this course and distance. She ran 35.25s here last week and a repeat of that will ensure nothing else in the race can get near her. I am a big fan of trap two Hats My Lady and was pleased to see her come back to form at Hove last time. That being said, she would need to come on again to rival the recent efforts of the one dog and odds of 4/5 on offer with William Hill seem fair.
