A tough night on Thursday with both our selections getting killed at the first bend. Unfortunately, that’s the way it goes with greyhound racing sometimes and you are bound to get some bad luck along the way. I suppose we were due some but two on the same night isn’t really fair! Onwards and upwards with selections for tonight on Romford and Sunderland.
If you want to watch the live dog racing tonight in the comfort of your own home, just tune into Racing Post Greyhound TV on Sky Channel 231, or Freesat Channel 402. The coverage starts at 7.15pm and runs right the way through till 10.45pm and the best part is, it’s completely free! Tonight’s racing comes from Romford and Sunderland. All of the 13 races at Romford tonight are opens and there is some high class action at the London track. Up at Sunderland, it’s a graded card sponsored by William Hill, which also consists of 13 races.
9.24pm Romford
An interesting contest here with two dogs that clashed last week re-opposing. There was bareky anything between Blonde Snapper and Droopys Bach on that occasion with the Mark Wallis trained runner coming out best by a short head. This classy looking dog lead all the way that night and just held off his fast finishing rival. Blonde Snapper has been put in as the even money favourite to confirm his superiority and I’m sure a number of punters will be keen to snap that up. I’m taking a different position however and feel the draw could well mean Droopys Bach can turn the table this even. Coming out of trap one here (was in two last week) gives the 3/1 on offer with William Hill a real value look to it, especially when bet365 and Ladbrokes only go 9/4. The fact Droppys Bach met trouble in running in their last meeting and still only went down a short head only increases my belief that the bookies have got this one priced up all wrong.
9.40pm Romford
Another price error from Hills here which I can’t see lasting too long. Again, we have the same situation as with the last race with the Mark Wallis runner as favourite coming out of 3 but I feel we have a huge draw advantage with Hawks Wonder from trap 1. This greyhound looked ultra impressive when winning here on the 17th of Feb and is still relatively lightly raced and unexposed. Areo Joker is a quality bitch in her own right but I just feel that again, from a value perspective, the 5/2 on offer with William Hill for Hawks Wonder is just too big. Bet365 only go 6/4 while Hills make Areo Joker their 6/5 favourite. I’m a Mark Wallis fan but I hope he doesn’t do the business this evening!
