Sunderland and Romford provide the entertainment on Racing Post Greyhound TV this evening. While we usually have graded racing from Sunderland on a Friday evening, tonight they are staging five opens. At Romford, all the 13 race card are open contests. Both meetings can be seen live tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV, Sky Channel 212, or Freesat Channel 402. The show begins at 7.15pm and is on right through until 10.45pm. This free to air channel now shows greyhound racing three nights a week, Thursday to Saturday!

Here we go again with a greyhound I tipped twice in recent weeks (won once, second once), and I think he has another excellent chance tonight. Pelaw Grange resident Elwick Ghost was beaten here last time out when finishing second to Leap Of Faith. He lost nothing in defeat on that occasion as far as I’m concerned and this looks to be an easier contest. Odds on with Coral and Stan James, Ladbrokes go a massive 6/4 about the favourite and I’ll definitely be taking some of that. The six dog Calzaghe Lily is a bit of an unknown quantity but she’ll need to be at her very best to finish in front of the three dog here.

A cracking contest in store here, this Chase Standard is a 400m contest with £175 on offer to the winning greyhound. The bookies have made the red jacket Sharons Return their 9/4 favourite and it’s easy to see why. This greyhound has won his last two starts over course and distance and clocked 23.99s here at the start of the month. He has every chance of landing the hat trick. For me, the value lies with the six dog, the Liz McNair trained King Nicky. The only wide runner in the race, he was disappointing here last week but has previously put up some impressive figures over this round this track and the 7/2 on offer with Paddy Power is more than fair.
