There are two fantastic cards tonight from Romford and Sunderland for greyhound racing fans to enjoy. Firstly, there are thirteen open races at Romford including the first round heats of the Coronation Cup. Overt at Sunderland, there are five opens as well as some high class graded action. Both meetings can be seen live tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV, Sky Channel 212, or Freesat Channel 402. The show begins at 7.15pm and is on right through until 10.45pm. This free to air channel now shows greyhound racing three nights a week, Thursday to Saturday!

Heat five of the enthralling Coronation Cup and what could potentially be a match between the three dog Banasha Mo, and Planning coming out of trap six. Trained by Harry Crapper, Banasha Mo is a very talented bitch but for me, she seems to get turned over too many times at short prices. Her last two starts have been at Romford over tonight’s 575m trip, and she has been defeated on both occasions, including last time out when returning at odds of 4/7f. Mark Wallis’ Planning is a greyhound I like a lot. He has won three of his last five starts and was impressive during his run to the Essex Vase final. He has the desired draw in trap six and I don’t think the 13/8 on offer with Betfred will last too long.

Another Coronation Cup heat here and a race where I feel the bookmakers may have overreacted slightly in making the six dog such a short price favourite. Aghaburren Paddy is undoubtedly a talented greyhound. Recent victories at Hall Green and Sheffield have looked impressive but the fact is this dog has had just the one run over this course and distance when finishing sixth two years ago. He does have the draw tonight, but I’m willing to take the striped jacket on at prohibitive odds. The value play for me here has to be the two dog, Rockburst Lenny. Although this greyhound has been beaten on his last three starts, I feel he’ll relish the return to this course and distance and a repeat of the run behind Smiler Jack on the 23rd November could well be enough.
