Racing Post Greyhound TV Tips Henlow and Hove 7th February

Racing Post Greyhound TV (Sky Channel 212, or Freesat Channel 402) host two excellent greyhound racing cards this evening from Henlow and Hove. The show gets under way at 7.15pm and runs right the way through till 10.45pm. This free to air channel now shows greyhound racing three nights a week, Thursday to Saturday! Both venues stage twelve race cards, with seven open races at Henlow, and nine at Hove. The pick of the action looks to be the 8:50pm at Hove where You’re A Champ bids to make it seven victories in succession.

8:26pm Henlow
This February Puppy Open race is to be contested over the 460m trip and offers £150 to the winning greyhound. Bet365 make the two dog Johnny Ninja their 5/2 market leader, but to me, he appears to be a little on the short side consider his recent record. Any greyhound beaten sixteen and a quarter lengths last time out, and seven and a half in the race prior to that, wants taking on in my book! The value bet here is definitely the red jacket, Nottingham raider Salacres Khan. The race here last time out will have given this greyhound a valuable bit of experience round the track and he should come on for that effort. Salacres also got the better of Johnny Ninja on the 14th January at Nottingham and the 7/2 on offer for this evening’s race with Betfred looks well worth taking.

10:26pm Hove
This 515m contest looks a great way to end the evening at Hove and there are some very consistent performers in the line up. The Mark Wallis trained Benkaat Blue heads the betting at best odds of 5/2 with Paddy Power. Benkaat has won his last three starts over course and distance and although there are runners with faster times in the field, I think it’s worth sticking with the red jacket until beaten. The biggest threat to my selection looks likely to come from his next door neighbour Larrikin in trap two. He has been beaten by the one dog on their last two encounters but has found trouble in running. With a clear passage, Larrikin can give the favourite something to think about.
