Henlow and Hove are the destinations for Thursday evening’s Racing Post Greyhound TV action. To watch tonight’s live dog racing, simply tune in on Sky Channel 231, or Freesat Channel 402. The show begins at 7.15pm, with the first live race going off at 7.25pm. The last event of the evening is the 10.26 from Hove. Both cards include 12 races and the pick of the action comes from Henlow, where there are five opens.

This race sees the return of the greyhound that finished third in the Primus Telecom Derby here last October behind Taylors Sky in the shape of Freedom Chief. Dean Childs’ dog has been off the track since early December when winning at Monmore but ran a superb trial over this course and distance last time, clocking 27.14s. While it is another story having to produce in a competitive event, I really am quite surprised to see bet365 price this greyhound up at 13/8. I fully expected him to be odds on when first looking at the cards and he’s definitely my Nap of the evening at that price. Doctor Robert coming out of trap 4 is the likely thread but I’ll be very disappointed if the blue jacket doesn’t have too many guns for this field.

A tricky little contest over 550m here with a couple of potential improvers, one dog that has ability but shown nothing for months and the best greyhound in the field coming off the back of a couple of poor efforts. Favourite is the two dog Ballymac William, trained by Dean Childs. This greyhound was beaten here last time after not covering from a bit of scrimmaging at the first bend. Prior to that he was well beaten at Crayford in the Peter Bussey. Trap 3 Pantone Ava improved for the step up in trip last time to score in decent fashion. The time was nothing to write home about but she could improve again. The six dog is the spanner in the works really. Boxie is very capable on his day but has shown very little since last Summer and I’d probably want bigger than the 9/2 on offer to be a player. I think Ballymac William will be too good for these but only Ladbrokes have early process on this contest currently and they go 4/5 about the favourite so I’ll take my chances with the starting price and hope for some odds against.
