We are now at the quarter final stage of the 2012 Wimbledon Greyhound Derby and all the action can be seen live from 7.30pm on Sky Sports 3. There are eight live open races including the four quarter finals, with the first race at 7.40pm and the last taking place at 9.45pm. The first three greyhounds in each quarter final heat will qualify for the semi finals on Saturday, by which point the competition will have been reduced to twelve runners.
Razldazl Jayfkay has looked impressive throughout the competition thus far and heads the outright betting at odds of 3/1 with Ladbrokes. Dolores Ruth’s greyhound broke the track record in round two and is all the rage in the third quarter final. He does have a serious rival in the shape of Bubbly Phoenix on his inside in trap five and it’s difficult to separate the pair of them.

Greyhound Derby Quarter Final Tips

The first quarter final of the evening sees Taylors Sky, Razldazl Bugatti and Razldazl Rioga clash in what looks a mouthwatering contest on paper. Taylors Sky looks to have the advantage from a draw perspective and although well beaten by Young Sid last time, Charlie Lister’s runner did meet trouble early in the race. Ladbrokes go a stand out 2/1 about the one dog and I think that’s a price well worth taking.

A wide open looking race here and one where the bookies are struggling to find a favourite. While Paddy Power make Judicial Ruling their 2/1 market leader, most firms have the first four in the betting very closely matched. For me, the value could well lie with the black jacket Young Sid. He’s won four of his last five races and comes into this event a little under rated. The 7/2 on offer with Paddy Power looks big.

The race of the night sees the new track record holder and Derby favourite Razldazl Jayfkay looking to continue his fantastic form at the main expense of Bubbly Phoenix. It looks to be a match between the two wide runners and I’d have to side with the six dog to get the better of the argument going on what we have seen thus far. William Hill go 11/10 about Dolores Ruth’s runner and I can see him being odds on come race time.

Definitely the weakest of the four quarter finals and the Mark Wallis trained Blonde Snapper may well be able to take advantage of being drawn in six. Traps one to five are all railers and although Blonde Snapper is a middle runner, he could well stay out of trouble on the outside and claim a comfortable victory.
