Arguably the best greyhound card of the year takes place this Tuesday night at Wimbledon and all the action is live on Sky Sports 1 from 7.30pm. The two big races of the evening are the williamhill.com Springbok and the Racing Post Juvenile. I previewed the Juvenile last week, you can read that article by clicking the link below. In addition to these hot contests, there are six other open races live on Sky.
7.40 Wimbledon – Charlie Lister’s amazing veteran Yahoo Jamie comes out of a plum draw in trap one and it would take a brave man to say he can’t win yet another live Sky race. This dog has won three of his last five races and is one of the most consistent types in training at this level. That being said, he could have a tough time holding off the attentions of Razldazl Bugatti from trap three. This classy individual is over from Ireland and looks likely to make the journey worthwhile.
8.00 Wimbledon – I’ll be looking for a Razldazl double here with another Dolores Ruth trained dog in the shape of Razldazl Rioga coming out of the one box. Another very pacey individual who is definitely decent value at the 7/4 on offer with William Hill. I was expecting this greyhound to be more like 5/4 and for me, his form is head and shoulders above anything else in the race and he can dominate from this draw.
8.15 Wimbledon – Favourite here is the Harry Crapper trained Banasha Mo. She did a nice looking trial here earlier this month and certainly has strong claims tonight. Having said that, I’m going to take her on with the Kelly Findlay trained bitch Ministry Millie. On offer at 7/2 with Ladbrokes, Findlay’s charge put up a couple of very nice performances behind Aero Joker at Crayford recently and can make it back to back wins following her victory at Doncaster on Friday night.
8.35 Wimbledon – The Springbok Final should be a cracking race but on dog stands out a mile on form and that’s the Nick Savva trained Westmead Melanie coming out of trap two. This bitch has looked sensational since making the switch to hurdles and although you might not get particularly rich backing her at 4/5, she will be very hard to beat this evening. The danger comes from trap six in the form of Cabra Legend. A very decent dog in his own right, Elizabeth McNair’s greyhound still has it all to do if he’s going to get the better of the blue jacket.
