The Carling Chrome 3 Steps To Victory Final is tonight’s big race at Sheffield and all the all action can be seen live on Sky Sports 4 from 7.30pm. William Hill make Meadow Bank Owl their 2/1 favourite following an excellent display in the semi final here when beating Clerihan Gold by three and three quarter lengths. Barrie Draper’s dog is yet to run over this trip but has shown plenty of decent form around this track and the fact he was staying on well last time over 500m leads me to believe this 660m trip won’t pose too many problems. The obvious danger looks to be coming from Bowtime Joey in trap two. We know Stuart Mason’s dog definitely gets this trip which is something we cannot say about the other runners in the field. Although he was well beaten by Meadow Bank Owl last time out, he did not get the run of the race and considering the trouble he found in running, did well to finish so close to the winner. I think Bowtime Joey has a great chance of reversing that form, particularly over this longer trip. I recommend taking the 11/4 that is on offer with Paddy Power about the two dog.

Mr Chow looks like a value bet at 3/1 with Ladbrokes. This greyhound should definitely be suited by the step up in trip and I was expecting him to be a fair bit shorter for this contest. Skybet only go 7/4, so take the 3s while it is available.

I believe there is more value to be had here in the shape of the six dog, Sharp Hawk. The only wide runner in the race, he should get a decent passage through and can follow up his win last time at rewarding odds. William Hill go 9/2 which seems very fair.

The Nap of the evening for me is Head Iton Hayesy wearing the red jacket in the penultimate live Sky race. He had a nightmare run at Shawfield last time out but his record here is exemplary and I strongly fancy this greyhound to make the most of his good draw.
