The Irish Greyhound Derby first took place at Shelbourne Park in 1932 and to this day is one of the most prestigious competitions in the greyhound racing calendar.

The Irish Greyhound Derby takes place in August and September each year at Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium. This year’s final is scheduled for Saturday September 12th. The competition is the richest greyhound event in the world with a prize fund of over 300,000 Euros.
Shelbourne Aston was the winner of the 2008 Irish Greyhound Derby, beating Slip The Lark and collecting 175,000 Euros in the process.
