There’s plenty of decent greyhound racing taking place around the country today, but our efforts are going to be concentrated on Crayford, where the build up to the Golden Jacket begins in earnest. All this evening races from the Kent track can be seen on RPGTV which is broadcast on Sky channel 212 and Freesat channel 401. Newcastle is the other meeting being shown on the channel tonight, and there are a total of twelve races taking place at each track. Here are our best bets for Saturday February 7th.
20:18 Crayford
The first of this evening’s Ladbrokes Golden Jacket Trials here, and it looks the most open of the four races. Perry Barr raider Chaotic Dotty has been put in as the 3/1 favourite with bookmaker Betfred, and this lightly raced bitch certainly has plenty of potential. Her victory at Hall Green over 645m last month in an open race reads well, and I expect the three dog to be seen to good effect round Crayford tonight. The value play for me here has to be the four dog Borna Champ who is a huge price at 11/2 with Betfred. This greyhound has plenty of experience over course and distance and although well beaten by Chaotic Dotty at Hall Green last time out, John Mullins’ dog is likely to be seen to better effect back here at Crayford.
Back Trap 4 Borna Champ at 11/2 with Betfred
20:34 Crayford
This contest looks at the mercy of the Market Heights, and I strongly fancy the five dog to return to winning ways here tonight. Although he has been beaten on his last two starts which both came here at Crayford over the 714m trip, Market Heights had a troubled passage in both of the races, but still wasn’t particularly far behind the principles in either event. Having been in fine form at both Wimbledon and Romford over the last couple of months, this greyhound should make it third time lucky over course and distance and register a what would be a fourth career success.
Back Trap 5 Market Heights at 11/10 with Betfred
21:06 Crayford
While the claims of the six dog Fivestar Clipper are clear for all to see here, his stamina must be taken on trust and the price is short enough for me to be taking this greyhound on tonight. The bitch wearing the blue jacket Painted Craft was a little unlucky in running when beaten over course and distance last weekend, but I feel that she can make amends tonight. Gemma Davidson’s charge should come with her customary late charge and pick up the fast starting Clipper round the final bend. Take the 4/1 on offer with Betfred.
