It’s nice to have two open race cards televised on a Friday evening, and I’m hoping that we can get off to a winning start in this second heat of the ECC Timber Laurels. The Charlie Lister trained Southern Mesut recently won the RPGTV Derby at Henlow and has some rock solid form in the book. Lister has given the greyhound a sighter plus two spins over course and distance prior to this competition getting under way, so obviously means business. I really thought this the three dog would be odds on this evening, but William Hill go a stand out price of evening money, and that makes Southern Mesut a bet for me here. I cannot see the greyhound starting at this price, and he’s already as short as 8/13 elsewhere, so take the odds on offer with Hills.

A greyhound I believe is potentially top class here in Irish raider Save The Don. The four dog ran a cracking time in a trial here last week and is seriously unexposed with just a handful of runs in Ireland thus far. Fraser Black definitely knows the time of day and would not send anything into the Laurels he didn’t believe was a serious contender. It’s all about the 6/4 available at the Betfair sports book for me here as the greyhound is a general 11/8 chance with the other firms. I strongly fancy the four dog to do the business here tonight.
