As is the norm on a Friday evening, the RPGTV cameras head to Romford and Sunderland tonight, to cover these two thirteen race cards, which includes eight open races at the Essex venue. All the action can be seen live from 7:15pm on Sky channel 212 and Freesat channel 401. Here are our dog racing tips for Friday 17th October.

The Mr Bubbly’s 60th Birthday Stakes is an open race, run over the 575m trip. Paul Young’s Wimbledon Puppy Derby winner Bubbly Beauty looks like the one they all have to beat here and should be spot on for this race after a couple of positive trials. This bitch comes out of trap three tonight, and is still relatively lightly raced at this stage of her career. I wouldn’t say this year has gone quite to plan for Bubbly Beauty in terms of results, but I believe she can gain a well deserved victory this evening. There are no early prices on this race, but she’s 5/4 on the tissue, and odds against would be a decent bet in my book.

Maybe I have it wrong, but I can’t see why the five dog Lough Messi is such a short price favourite here. This contest looks wide open to me and I think you could make a case for all bar Mays Teejay in three. Kevin Cobbold’s Fired Up Johnny arrives here off the back of an excellent win at Doncaster in front of the Sky cameras and he’s massively overpriced for me at odds of 6/1 with Betfred. Cobbold is proving to be one of the shrewdest trainers in the game at the minute and it makes sense to go for another decent race while this greyhound is running at the top of his game. With a win and a second place finish from two runs over this course and distance, coupled with the fact he has the plum draw in trap one, I make Fired Up Johnny a cracking bet here tonight.
