It’s Friday night so the RPGTV cameras will be heading to both Romford and Sunderland as is the norm. There’s a 13 race open card at Romford, while Sunderland serve up some decent graded action. Tonight’s show gets under way at 7:15pm and can be seen live on Sky channel 212 or Freesat channel 401. The bookmakers have kindly priced up four early races for us from Romford and that is where I’ll be concentrating my efforts. Here are our best bets for Friday evening’s dog racing.
8:18pm Romford
A 400m open contest, the James Drury Handicap looks quite competitive and is made complicated by the fact there are no wide runners in the race. Favourite here is the Mark Wallis trained Aero Babooshka, who can be backed at odds of 9/4 with Betfred. This bitch finished third over course and distance and should definitely be thereabouts. I prefer the look of the one dog Too Swift. She ran a 24.29 here in July and a repeat of that should be good enough. With the plum draw, I feel the Mullins runner can do the business tonight.
Back Trap 1 Too Swift at 7/2 with Betfred
9:06pm Romford
This is a bit of a messy race with a number of these runners having very inconsistent form. On the basis of her victory here on the 18th of July, I’m again going with the one dog, Brisk Bella. While she is a little in and out, Bella does have quite a good win strike rate and the odds of 7/2 with Betfred appeal enough for me to get involved. The biggest threat to my selection could well come from Mikes Machine in the black jacket. That bitch is a little bit over priced at the 9/2 mark.
Back Trap 1 Brisk Bella at 7/2 with Betfred
10:26pm Romford
My nap of the evening comes in the form of Trap 3, Genesis Demester in this Weeknights at Romford Dogs Standard. I’m slightly surprised she isn’t favourite across the board consider her recent exceptional form and the 3/1 on offer with Betfred is massive. This bitch ran a 23.92 over course and distance last week and has been absolutely electric out the boxes. I’m hoping this one will pay for the weekend, and although it is a competitive contest, I can’t see how Genesis Demester isn’t at the head of the betting.
