Go Big Hitter was a well backed winner of the £10,000 Coral Champion Stakes at Romford last night. Having been backed from an early price of 9/4 into 5/4, Dean Childs runner won by 4 lengths in a time of 35.64sec.
Eventual 3rd placed dog Bubbly Rambo led early but Go Big Hitter soon powered past to lead going round the first bend. Westmead Tina plugged on at one pace past Bubbly Rambo to finish in 2nd.
Elsewhere on the card, Courtenay Ranger won the Coral Champions Night Standard Final by a short head from Me Buddy at odds of 4/1. 2/1 favourite Bubbly Bullet could only manage to finish a further length and a half adrift in 3rd spot.
Greyhound of the Year Lenson Joker finished in a very disappointing last position in the Coral Backing Sue Ryder Care Trophy earlier in the evening. Although not beate a long way, the 4/5f didn’t look like the same dog that was winning for fun earlier in 2009.
