The Betfred Laurels got underway at Belle Vue last night and it was Keith Allsop’s Slick Ace in Heat 1 who put up the best performance of the evening. Winning at odds of 3/1 in an impressive time of 27.50sec, Slick Ace beat the well backed 11/8 favourite Target Classic by half a length, with Farloe Titan a length further back in third.
Heat 2 was a sad affair, with odds on favourite Cabra Boss coming to grief early on before passing away on the journey back to his kennels. The race was won by 9/2 chance Boolavogue in a time of 27.84sec. 7/1 chance Swift Rooster was a length and a half back in second with Iconic Blue finishing third.
Another favourite was well beaten in the 3rd Heat of the night when 6/4 chance Jesters Nap could only manage a 4th place finish. Julie Bateson’s runner Barbies Man won in a time of 27.70sec at odds of 5/2. Second was Hes Golden at 7/1 and in third came Topstar Honcho.
There was another winner for Keith Allsop in the 4th and final Heat of the evening when the only winning favourite of the night went in, 7/4 chance Centaur Allstar. He won by an impressive five and a quarter lengths from Tyrur Kirk with Sniper Petra in third.
