This year’s William Hill Oaks has now reached the semi final stage and the Dean Childs trained Droopys Loner shot to the head of the market following her victory in the second round when beating Bridge Ruth by three and three quarters of a length. The even money favourite was a little unlucky in round one when beaten a neck by kennel mate Aero Scramble but showed her class to clock a time of 28.47s last time and now looks to have every chance of landing this prestigious title.
Aero Scramble actually produced a better time in round two than when winning that first round battle against Droopys Loner, but was beaten by 7/1 chance Forest Dot. Forest Dot really impressed me on that occasion and I think she may well be a little overpriced at 10/1 with William Hill. Although she has a bit to find with market principles Droopys Loner and Droopys Hope if the times of the last heats are anything to go by, I fully expect her to make the final and I’d imagine she’ll be half that price come the 20th of December.
The two Droopys bitches are taking a huge chunk of the market at 2/1 and 5/2 respectively so I think it’s also worth backing 7/1 chance Skate On against the principles. She wasn’t far behind Droopys Hope in the quarter final and with a good draw in the semi final, a reproduction of that run should be enough to see Elizabeth McNair’s runner get through.
You can see the final take place live on Sky Sports 4 on Thursday 20th October.
