The Laurels
The Laurels or Betfred Laurels as it is also know, is a greyhound competition which takes place around September each year. The competition is run at Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium over a trip of 470m. From 1998 to 2005 the trip was 465m. The Laurels were originally held at Wimbledon from 1930 until 1977. From 1975 until 1997 the Laurels were run over 460m and from 1930 until 1974 the trip was 500yds.
Bookmaker Betfred are the current sponsor of the Laurels and the prize money on offer to the winner is £10,000.
