There are two meetings live on Racing Post Greyhound TV tonight for armchair punters to enjoy. The pick of tonight’s action comes from Romford where we have the final of the Coronation Cup. Rockview Sail will be looking to continue his excellent form and land the £5,000 prize but he faces some stiff competition, even with trap one being vacant. Sunderland also host some high class action with three open races in the early part of their card. Both meetings can be seen live tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV, Sky Channel 212, or Freesat Channel 402. The show begins at 7.15pm and is on right through until 10.45pm. This free to air channel now shows greyhound racing three nights a week, Thursday to Saturday!
One of the early open contests at Sunderland tonight features a rematch from Pelaw last week between Elwick Ghost and Millstreet Belle. The winner on that occasion was tonight favourite Millstreet Belle. She was victorious in convincing fashion by a full five lengths, but did have the best of the draw and was on home turf. I think tonight could be very different and the three dog can reverse that form over this course and distance where he performed so well earlier this month. Elwick Ghost is the one who has the best of the draw this evening and the 9/4 on offer with bet365 is the value bet of the night.
An excellent contest in prospect here over the 400m trip with three greyhounds entering the race in cracking form. The bookies make Rio Minstrel their 5/4 favourite and it’s not hard to see why. Daniel Riordan’s dog has won four of his last five contests over course and distance and the only reverse was in December when he came second. This greyhound has exceptional early pace and a repeat of his run here on the 14th of January would be enough to win tonight. The main danger is likely to come from Bonamassa Rocks in trap 2. He’s been off the track since a superb run back in a November but a couple of trails this month should have sharpened him up.
