There are two great cards to get stuck into tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV, Sky Channel 231, or Freesat Channel 402. The show gets under way at 7.15pm and runs right the way through till 10.45pm. This free to air channel now shows greyhound racing three nights a week, Thursday to Saturday! Tonight’s action comes from both Romford and Sunderland. The 13 races at Romford tonight and all bar one are open races. Sunderland hosts a graded card sponsored by William Hill, also featuring 13 races.
Bet365 make the Allsop trained runner Slick Shane their 7/4 favourite for this sprint event and I make them right! The one dog ran here over course and distance last week finishing second to Funny Lari. A repeat of that effort would likely be enough to take tonight’s contest, especially with the plum draw. If he’s on a going night, the danger may could from trap three but his form is very hit and miss and I’m fairly confident that Slick Shane can go one place better than last week.
Trap four Guinness Andy is all the rage for this event having been running consistently in decent open races for the last eight months. However, the fact he has been unable to get his head in front is worrying and at the prices, I prefer the chances of Slippery Rocky coming out of trap two. The Ingram yard’s runner is on offer at 3/1 with bet365 which seems like good value against the favourite. He won here last time out in impressive fashion by four and a quarter lengths and although that was only an A1, I think he has a great chance to follow up here.
