Gold Collar
The Gold Collar is a greyhound competition held at Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium during August each year. It is currently run over a trip of 590m but was run over 465m in 2005 and 647m in 2004. The Gold Collar was previously staged at Catford over 555m from 1975 to 2003, 610yds from 1972 to 1974, 570yds from 1963 to 1971, 440yds from 1936 to 1962, 540yds from 1934 to 1935 and 400yds during the first running of the event in 1933.
The current prize money on offer to the greyhound that wins the Gold Collar is £10,000. The Gold Collar was sponsored by bookmaker Totesport until 2009. The event did not take place in 2010 but is due to return in 2011.
