The 2011 Romford Puppy Cup gets under way on Monday 12th September with six heats. The event takes place at Romford Greyhound Stadium and is run over a trip of 400m. There is £8,000 on offer to the winning greyhound. The semi finals of the competition will be held on Friday 16th September with the final taking place on the following Friday 23rd September.

Eden Star is the strong market leader for the event being installed as the 2/1 favourite. The Barrie Draper trained pup is already being well touted for next year’s Greyhound Derby and is on offer at 20/1 with bet365 for that particular event. The son of Top Savings has already won the williamhill.com Puppy Derby at Wimbledon this year and although 2/1 might seem like it’s on the short side, Eden Star’s proven form in this sphere means it could well look like value come the 23rd September.

<a href='http://www.ladbrokes.com/ast?action=go_asset&aff_id=34283&asset_id=47'target='_blank'><img src='http://www.ladbrokes.com/ast?action=asset_req&imgonly=1&aff_id=34283&asset_id=47'width='468' height='60' border='0' alt=''/>

Jim Daly’s Fire Food Chilli is the 5/1 co second favourite on the back of his recent success in the Coral Champions Night Puppy Standard Final. That will certainly stand the young greyhound in good stead for this year’s Romford Puppy Cup and he’s improved tremendously since his debut at Romford in June.

The very lightly raced Slick Santiago is the other co second favourite with Coral. Keith Allsop’s charge has only run five times thus far but he already has two victories to his name and most recently finished second to Sequential in an open race at Romford. Despite that result, the bookies make Santiago half the price of Sequential who rates a 10/1 chance.

The 65th East Anglian Greyhound Derby semi finals take place on Saturday 10th September, with the final on Thursday 15th September. The event is staged at Yarmouth Stadium and is run over a trip of 462m. There is £12,000 in prize money on offer to the winner greyhound, which is an excellent prize when you consider some events are struggling to find sponsorship.

Current market leader for the 2011 East Anglian Derby is the Chris Allsopp trained Ballymac Ace. He didn’t get the best of runs when finishing third behind Yahoo Jamie and Brittons Empire in round two of this event but prior to that had looked very impressive in the first round, winning his heat in a time of 27.46. Yahoo Jamie, trained by Charlie Lister, certainly won’t be without his supporters in the outright market at the 9/2 mark. The wide runner has won both his starts in this competition thus far and should make it to the final with the minimum of fuss.

11/8 chance Fifis Rocket got the better of the 4/6f Taylors Cruise in heat three of the second round. Another Chris Allsopp trained runner, Fifis scored in a time of 27.77 while Taylors Cruise could only manage third place, with Droopys Hector splitting the pair. Fifis Rocket and Taylors Cruise are both 9/2 chances to take the East Anglian Derby crown while Droopys Hector is the rank outsider at 33/1.

We will obviously know more after tomorrow night’s semi finals but greyhound fans could well be in for a cracker next Thursday and the battle between Taylors Cruise and Ballymac Ace in the second semi final is sure to be enthralling.

The final of the Irish Greyhound Derby takes place this Saturday night at Shelbourne Park. It’s been quite a remarkable return for the Ronny Wuyts trained Rockchase Bullet who suffered an injury forcing him out of the Clonmel Produce Stakes last April. His comeback in this competition has seen him not only make it to the final but actually do so as the 2/1 favourite to be crowned 2011 Irish Greyhound Derby Champion.

Favourite for the for this year’s title at the start of proceedings was Dolores Ruth’s charge Razldazl George. Having won his first three rounds convincingly, Razldazl George has since suffered two defeats at the hands of Rockchase Bullet. Having finished fifth in this year’s English Derby, and having clocked the fastest time in this competition thus far, it’s not out of the question that Razldazl Geroge can turn the form around.

Dolores Ruth’s other runner in the final is Razldazl Bugatti. This runner’s only defeat so far en route to the final was at the hands of Dream Walker at the quarter final stage. If he can make the good early start that he is capable of, Razldazl Bugatti wouldn’t be without a chance of landing the big prize and upsetting kennel mate and namesake Razldazl George.

The Fraser Black trained Krug Ninety Five finished third in both last year’s English and Irish Greyhound Derby and arguably deserves to win this race. Unfortunately, the veteran will probably find one or two of these opponents just too good but the way he finished fast in the semi final behind Razldazl Bugatti suggests Krug Ninety Five has a slight chance of going two places better than last year.

If 10/1 chance Dream Walker can reproduce the form of his win in the quarter finals when accounting for Razldazl Bugatti, he’d come right into calculations, while Peter Cronin’s runner Rockview Head has a victory over Rockchase Bullet in the second round. That piece of form would also give him a chance.

Looks like we are in for a very exciting 2011 Irish Greyhound Derby Final, we just fancy the third favourite Razldazl Bugatti to get away quickly and prove too tough to peg back.

Juster Beauty runs out of trap 3 at 21:09, could be her last run for a while as she must be very close to has season, looks like another tough race for her the dog in trap 1 Fine Macey is the biggest danger also trap 6 Harry Hurry up, it is possible that she could sneak in if she can run her best time, it has been know for a bitch to run well when coming into season so fingers crossed she might do well, like always just hope she comes home safe, bet trio 1-3-6 always.

Juster Beauty has come into season so while she’s off to a well earned break i will be looking at her siblings and a few others to see how they fair.

Saturday 12th Wimbledon

Race 1 at 19:30 running from trap 5 is Beauty’s sister Juster Poppet, she has the potential to run well but has not show it as late, she’s a bit slow out of the traps but dose eat up the track and finishes well, looking at the race trap 6 looks to be the fastest from the off but trap 4 looks to have dropped down from A7 with a good time last time out, but like i said Poppet has it in her to run a good race so this time could be the start, prediction trio 4-5-6 always, also Running in Race 7 at 21:00 is Allenbuild Flyer from trap 3, lovely looking Brindle bitch not a bad time last time out and looks like she could go close this time around, fastest away is trap 6 Gabriells Ash who looks to be the one to beat will go for Allenbuild to be with her at the line, prediction reversed forecast 6-3

Hoping Beauty can get in the mix and capture second place but above all comes home safe
